LIAM BAILEY WHITE LIGHT

Born in Nottingham to an English mother and Jamaican father, Liam Bailey grew up listening to his parents’ Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, and Jimi Hendrix records. After moving to London, his emotive and heartfelt brand of acoustic guitar-driven soul soon attracted the attention of Amy Winehouse, who tracked him down after hearing one of his tracks through a mutual friend. Liam recently signed to Brooklyn’s Big Crown Records and is back in the studio recording his debut for the label with producer Leon Michels. His fresh release 'White Light' is a springy reggae track. Liam's vocals feel as if they're blaring from a small vintage radio, the effect being a lo-fi, distorted quality. As with any great reggae track, the bass is prominent and the guitar strokes off-beat, converging with the toy-like organ stabs that add a tinge of circus. 'White Light' is taken from Liam's forthcoming album Ekundayo - out on Big Crown Records November 13th. -Ellie Rose-Davies
